What's in Your Backpack?
As part of an exploration of the art element of Line, scholars used contour lines to create a series of drawings.
Working together as a team, a sculpture was set up using items from the backpacks of everyone at each table.
Using contour lines, scholars then created a drawing of the items.
The final phase was a fascinating monoprint transfer printmaking technique: Scholars applied ink to a small plastic sheet using a brayer. Lines of ink were then removed from the plastic sheet, following the contour lines of the sculpture. Scholars chose from a variety of inks and papers to create their mono prints.
