Math and Illustration

Integrating Theatre Arts with Visual Arts, 5th Period scholars practiced two Reader's Theater Classics: A Yankee in King Arthur's Court and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
An exciting element of the unit was creation of an illustration for the plays the actors were performing. Scholars reviewed works by recognized illustrators including the book cover created by N. C. Wyeth, as well as his illustration for the book, The Last of the Mohicans.
The math of a square with intersecting circles was used to create arches for an interesting border scholars would then use for their Reader's Theater illustrations.
