Children of the Holocaust

Experiences of children during the Holocaust were explored and portrayed in a variety of ways by our 8th grade Visual and Performing Arts class. A multi-media presentation included a PowerPoint presentation, large images, and several puppet shows. Scholars created puppets for a play adaptation of Brundibar, a children's Opera performed in Terezin, a "model" concentration camp during World War II.
The puppet show was performed during Living Book Fair for families of scholars. Brundibar, as well as a shadow puppet theater detailing the experience of children during the Holocaust were performed for scholars from younger grades.
Large images of children were painted on screens that were then displayed during the Brundibar performance. an 8th grade review of Diary of Anne Frank and in the Multi-purpose Room.
