Open House
(Left) Scholars prepare the "costume" for a lively Dragon Dance. 6th Grade and 6th/8th Grade Classes reviewed dances from world cultures, including China. They created rhythms for the dancing and also designed a large dragon.
A traditional element in dragon dances was featured: a large ball symbolizing a Pearl of Wisdom.
The storyline for the dance follows the dragon’s search for the Pearl of Wisdom. A Mentor (bird) heals the dragon after he is injured in a thunderstorm. Together they use classics (a large book) to discover the Pearl of Wisdom they were seeking.
