Sandhill Crane Festival Art Entry
Advanced Art scholars have a unique opportunity to pursue artwork of their choice, drawing, painting, printmaking, fashion design, landscape architecture, etc. A component of artwork created in Advanced Art is exhibiting work or finding ways to use works of art to benefit others. Several Advanced Art scholars worked hard to create a beautiful drawing as well as a woodcut print for entry into a Sandhill Crane Festival. These works were accepted in the Festival art competition!!
Woodcuts are a challenging medium to use. The scholar cut the design of the sandhill crane into a 22"X 12" piece of birch plywood. Ink was then rolled on the wood using a brayer. Paper was placed on the wood and the back of the paper was rubbed using a plastic spoon, to transfer the design from wood to paper.
