We are studying how to address a theme in works of art using principles of Proportion and Contrast. The theme we is "Preserving our Local Waterways." When the artworks are complete, an exhibit is planned to be presented in the community. Stay tuned to see how these amazing works develop!

Exploring how artists use math to create a sense of Harmony is an important element in our learning activities. We reviewed use of the Golden Section as a classic under-structure for works of art. In the process, we have also addressed standards for math (using a compass to create intersecting lines).

Students emphasized the dimensions of their artwork such as half-way points/divisions and also the square within the rectangle they used.

These amazing collages feature our closest waterway, Dry Creek, one block north of the school as well as the plants and animals living in the Roseville area. Subjects in our drawings and paintings highlight endangered species native to the waterway.
Austin

Dry Creek has been designated as a protected habitat for the Central Valley Steelhead trout. Our 8th grade scholars created a mural featuring this beautiful fish. For videos and photos of students working on the mural visit:
