8th Grade Scholars Create Monoprints

A variety of arts activities featuring animals native to the Sacramento River Valley have been the focus of study for 8th grade scholars: wood duck, fox, Central Valley steelhead, etc. One of the more exciting and challenging arts activities is printmaking. Scholars created monoprint transfers (one print) by rolling ink onto a sheet of plastic, placing paper on the ink and carefully drawing their animal on the back of the paper. Once the drawing is complete, the paper was lifted off the ink and the transfer of their symbol was revealed.
