9th Grade Students Create Art Vehicles

Picture
The challenge for three teams was to create a 3-D object using only these select items: marshmallows, straws, animal cookies, cotton candy, styrofoam plates/bowls.

Design Requirements:
  • Appears to be mobile
  • Appears to have a means of propulsion
  • Transports something
  • Designed to solve a social issue
All teams met the objective--and shared the prizes equally (including chocolate with bacon bits).  Not sure what happened to the rest of the cotton candy?!

Rainbow Tank (also photo above)

Picture
Tank transports goodies to solve world hunger for desserts!

Transportation honors!

UFO With Alien

Picture
Appears to solve world hunger by saving cows from aliens but really is a special transport for goodies!

Special honors for design!

Roll of the Dice

Picture
Marshmallows on each side of this unique sculpture represent numbers on the side of dice.

The purpose of the structure is to serve as an educational tool that increases use of math.  Tiny jet packs on the bottom propel the structure in any direction, including causing it to roll!  Honors for Educational Purpose.
A small horse in the middle protects the structure (Is it Trigger, the Counting Horse--does anyone remember Roy Rogers?  What are the odds?).

7th Grade Scholars send good wishes

Picture
Scholars created pop-up cards, choosing a specific color harmony (analogous, complementary, monochromatic), when many of their classmates were absent because of illness.
